Rich Dad Poor Dad
Any business owner will tell you, or as Robert Kiyosaki’s book Rich Dad Poor Dad will confirm, real capital is created by building assets, your own assets. “It’s not how much money you make, but how much money you keep, how hard it works for you, and how many generations you keep it for.” Read my full article

Market Wizards
It’s hard to go past this one. It’s a classic… and for good reason. Valuable nuggets of insight from the best traders and investors in the world. Market Wizards hits you right between the eyes in terms of pointing out the difference between your approach to the market and how some of the most successful players of all time do it. You could not possibly help but learn a great deal from this book and it easily makes the required reading list for anyone involved in markets.
Business Storytelling For Dummies
Excellent resource and essential for anyone running a business! This book communicates via story, rather than simply serving up technical information, on how to impact those around you. The authors' have done considerable research and are highly experienced. With an empathetic twist on business communications, I understand how good storytelling takes thought, planning and talent.
Chris Conway
Reminiscences of a Stock Operator
This was the first book about markets that truly wowed me. Up until I read this (and there was a lot of them) I thought that any stockmarket book would be dry, boring stuff. Not only is the story interesting and compelling but the knowledge it imparts is of the highest order. First published in 1923 and chronicling the history of a stock trader who makes and loses multiple fortunes, Reminiscences is the most widely read, highly recommended investment book of all time. I cannot recommend it enough and is essential reading for anyone serious about markets.
Tools and Tactics of the Master Day Trader
A corny title perhaps but this was the first trading book I read that advocates a systematic, process-driven approach to market. The book contains battled-tested techniques for traders of all types and focuses on strategy and strategy refinement. It also delves into psychology and discipline and remains a book that I refer back to even today. Whilst it has a trading bent, much of it crosses over to investing.
Trading in a Nutshell
This is no doubt biased, as this book was written by an early mentor of mine, Stuart McPhee. A great bloke who has always been generous in sharing his knowledge and insight and who helped me immensely in my early days as a young stock punter. The book is pitched at the beginner to intermediate level, so is perfect for anyone starting out or trying to better understand the market and themselves as a trader or investor.
Henry Jennnings
Liars Poker
Micheal Lewis an inside look at the markets in the 80s – its culture and the seeds of the 87 crash together with the growing dominance of the Investment Bank culture
Too big to fail
Andrew Ross Sorkin - A detailed look from Andrew Ross Sorkin on the causes of the GFC. Required reading in case it happens again.
Confessions of a Street Addict Jim Cramer
James Cramer - Interesting read on a much-maligned US presenter/ investor. A great look behind the scenes of the hedge fund business and what it takes to be successful.
